NEW
YORK, March 29, 2010 - Grenadian athletes at South Plains College in Texas
had a competitive weekend at the 2010 UTEP Springtime Invitational in El
Paso, Texas.
Rondell
Bartholomew led the charge among the trio of Grenadian athletes with victory
in the men's 400m in 46.20secs, and second in the 200m (21.22) and second
position in the men's 4x100m relay running the anchor leg which included
Troy Faulkner, Devin Hill and Kervin Morgan.
Janelle
Redhead was also impressive with second placed finishing in the 100, 200 and
4x100m. She clocked 11.24secs behind colleague Jura Levy (11.19) and 23.42
over the 200m.
Janelle
also teamed up with Shawna Anderson, Levy and Nicquel Thomas to secure the
silver in the sprint relay.
Colleen
Felix, the third Grenadian athlete in the South Plains team, won the women's
triple jump with 12.55m and finished fifth in the 100m hurdles in 15.07secs.
She also was fourth in the javelin with 43.61m.
At the
Alabama Relays at the Sam Bailey Track & Field Stadium on Sunday, Kirani
James teamed up with Brandon Spradley, Ray Jadusingh and Matt Watson to win
the 4x100m relay in a time of 40.24secs, the sixth-fastest time in the
United States this year. James will be joining the Grenada team this weekend
for the Junior CARIFTA Championships in the Cayman Islands where he will be
defending his 400m title.
Sherine
Wells, Kurt Felix and Joel Phillip also competed at a non-scored meet at the
Arizona State Team Invitational on the weekend.
Wells of
Oklahoma University was third in 100m in 11.72secs and fourth in the 200m in
24.02secs. Felix of Boise State University placed third in the high jump,
clearing 2.05m. Phillip brought home Arizona State University in fourth
place in the 4x400m relay in 3:11.50.
