Boxing Story

Following the successes of Track and Field and Swimming at CARIFTA this year, boxing returned with a fair share of medals.

Team Grenada won three medals including a gold at the just concluded Caribbean Amateur Boxing Championships in the Bahamas.

Godfrey Jones retained his lightweight novice category; Shane Joseph secured silver in the senior super heavyweight and Gerald Griffith, bronze in the middleweight novice category.

Meantime, three boxers are in Colombia this week participating in the boxing qualifiers for the Pan-American Games.

Middleweight Martin Bascombe; lightwelter Kennis Joseph and heavyweight Andy Grant are seeking qualification for the Pan-Am Games in the Dominican Republic in August.

Trinidadian Kerston Manswell is the only boxer from the English-speaking Caribbean to qualify thus far for the championship.
