Smith gets chance to revive hopes


Grenadian opener Devon Smith has been named in a 13-member squad from which the final 11 will be chosen to play for the WICB President's XI against Sri Lanka in a three-day match from June 14 to 16 at the Arnos Vale Playing Field in St Vincent.

Smith is one of seven experienced players named in the squad to be led by Trinidadian Daren Ganga.

Also included are Jamaicans Daren Powell, Carlton Baugh Jr. and David Bernard Jr., Barbadian Ryan Hinds and Trinidadian Dave Mohammed.

Other members of the squad are Jason Bennett and Tino Best of Barbados; Dwayne Bravo and Aniel Kanhai of Trinidad and Tobago; Narsingh Deonarine of Guyana and Jerome Taylor of Jamaica.

The team coach is Ian Allen and manager is Julian Jack.

West Indies play three One-Day Internationals and two Tests against Sri Lanka.
