Champions St Lucia win easily over Americans

Topscorer Eugena Gregg of St. Lucia

La SAGESSE - St Lucia defeated the United States by eight wickets here on Tuesday in the only match played on the opening day of the West Indies Women’s Cricket Tournament.

The match which was reduced to 36 overs was delayed due to rain which washed out the remaining matches.

St Lucia won the toss and sent the Americans to bat. The U.S.A made 74 off 33 overs.

Shirley-Ann Bonaparte reached 20 before Nicole Yarde bowled her. Ave Morgan was the only batter to get into the double figures. Eugena Gregg bowled her for 14.

St Lucia, in reply, reached 77 for 2 with Gregg not out on 19 and Lorena Vitte unbeaten on 17. Earlier Glenicia James made 13.
