Grenada defeated Dominica in football friendly

ST GEORGE'S, Grenada (Sept. 30) - Grenada defeated Dominica 1-0 in a football friendly at the National Stadium here on Tuesday night.

Striker Kitson Bain scored the lone goal for Grenada in an unimpressive game in front of a few hundred spectators.

Bain's 32nd strike was the only exciting moment of play as both teams struggled to string completed passes.

Grenada's goal came from a Kenny Phillip's left-sided cross which connected to Bain who volleyed home from 20 yards to beat a diving goalkeeper Owen Oscar.

However, Grenada's coach Ali Debellotte wasn't impressed with his team's performance against the Dominicans.

"For the first 15-20 minutes the team didn't look bad but things turned for the worst after the first goal," he said.

"Kitson (Bain) had clear chances and (Ian) Perrotte had a goal to score when the goalkeeper was on the ground. We didn't look like the team which played against the Cayman Islands recently." Debellotte said.

Both teams maximised their benches as they prepare for away matches in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

Grenada plays Cayman Islands on October 12 at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex in Grand Cayman while Dominica is away to St Kitts on October 11.
