ST GEORGE’S, July 08 (GFA) - After a bright start to the 2005 Grenada Football Association (GFA) Women Football League, the female footballers will be in action this weekend in the first round of matches.

It is the hope of the GFA that the young ladies will be given the necessary support from their various communities.

On Saturday defending champions Queen’s Park Rangers (QPR) will play first timers Future Generations of Football (FUTGOF) at Queens Park, then over at Cuthbert Peters, defending champions in the five-aside tournament, St. John’s Sports will come up against another first timer Eagles Super Strikers at Plains and Plains All Stars will be at home to St Andrew’s Football League (SAFL) at Plains.

On Sunday, the lone fixture is between Five Stars and Mt. Rich at the Victoria Park. Matches begin at 4:30 p.m.

Nine (9) teams have registered to compete in this year’s tournament and according to Technical Administrator, Lester Smith, there is the possibility of an additional team from St David.
