ST GEORGE’S, Grenada, Jan 27 - Businessman Derek Steele has been re-elected President of the Grenada Amateur Swimming Association (GASA) at its Annual General Meeting held over the weekend.

Following the election of officers, discussions were held on the proposed construction of a National Aquatic Centre.

Last year government announced plans to construct a National Aquatic Centre in Beausejour in 2004.

The announcement was made by Governor General Sir Daniel Williams during the presentation of the Throne Speech at the ceremonial state opening of the Parliament on September 26, 2003.

According to Sir Daniel, the centre will feature a 50-metre swimming pool and a 25-metre warm-down pool, as well as a change room, office facilities and seating for 2,000 spectators.

He said the National Aquatic Centre will be financed by the National Lottery Authority and the Canadian Bank Note Inc.
