Fifteen
teams met to compete from the March 25th and 28th at the annual RHAC

200m Breast and 100m Breast out of his seven events.
Justin
Steele (Boys 11-12) set a new record with a strong swim in the 800m
Freestyle. Gabrielle Paparo (Girls 9-10) set a new record with a beautiful
swim in the 100m Backstroke.
Beginner, Jasmine Bagnasco, (6 & under) set her first record in the 25m
Backstroke. Records times were also made in the relays including, (Mixed 10
& under- 200m Free), by Katie Lillie, Marco Bagnasco, Gabrielle Paparo and
Kerry Ollivierre and the exhibition relay of (10 & under- 400m Free) by
Gabrielle Paparo (swimming twice), Jasmine Bagnasco and Katie Lillie. Many
other records were smashed by the fantastic Grenfin Team.
In
preparation for Carifta, to be held in Jamaica from April 2nd to 6th, most
of Grenfin’s senior swimmers were unable to participate in this meet.
Grenfin’s third place success was earned by the hard work of each of our 12
members including Matteo Bagnasco (9-10), newcomers Leslie Ollivierre (9-10)
and Jared Honore (11-12), and the youngest member of the team, 5 year old
Meeka Ollivierre.
The team
returned with a total of 89 medals, 841 points and a very proud Assistant
Coach, Carlton Simon, who cheered and coached the team throughout the meet,
sharing his support and enthusiasm.
Thanks
also to Nataly Regis, Head Coach for all her hard work and dedication who
remained in Grenada in order to prepare the swimmers heading for Carifta.
